How the salary calculation is done
- Gross pay = CTC minus the employer's PF and gratuity, if your CTC includes these.
- Your PF (12% of basic or ₹15,000 per month if it is capped) and professional tax are taken from the gross pay.
- Taxable income = gross pay minus the standard deduction (₹75,000 for new, ₹50,000 for old). The old regime also subtracts professional tax, 80C (including your PF) and other deductions.
- Income tax is based on slabs, minus the Section 87A rebate, plus a surcharge if above ₹50 lakh, and a 4% health and education cess.
